Following the success of the rear extension next door, We gained planning permission for a new build of a refreshed interpretation of the typical London brick house on an exclusive road in chiswick. The design from the street was to emphasise a modern twist of a traditional typology whilst the rear transitions into a modern glass and steel house with the use of timber louvres to ensure privacy in the tightly packed context whilst delivering maximum light internally. The house is very luxurious and includes a ‘bunker’ cinema room and carport lift to store up to 3 cars. The build was made even more complicated with the liquidation of the main contractor who walked away with much of the build left, including unpaid glazing contractors who refused to fix leaky window installations. My role in this project was to draft up the tender documents and assist my director on site as contract administrator for the build, shadowing him on and off site through the build.
